Update on Cricket Section Meeting on Ground Position Various views were put forward and the following just indicates those areas which will be put forward to the Sports Club meeting on the 11th April.
1. Club to renew lease - likely is that we could obtain a 14 year lease paying a commercial rent.
2. Contact local council with a view to clarify the position on
o Planning permission o Preservation order on trees - note the old pavilion already has a preservation order. o Investigate whether council would buy the ground to stop development on an open space.
3. Obtain valuation of the ground on the basis of three options:-
o As it currently used for recreation o Development for houses o Sold with current position but the intention to try and build on the land by changing use.
4. Emphasis the fact that Borlaise school had permission for their school extension on the basis of using local amenities for sports - cricket
5. Investigate the possibility of the sports club purchasing the ground by obtaining pledges from the members with a share scheme. Value to be decided by item 3 and bid at auction.
6. Investigate lottery funding and other organisations.
7. Contact land registry to find out if there is any covenant on the ground over its use
8. Ensure all members understand the importance of the issue and how they can help.
9. Contact al the local press and involve the neighbours.
10. Ask Henley CC how they bought their land.
11. Contact the local MP and get his support.
These are a few ideas from the cricket section but we do need the entire sports club to really be a force as one.
My suggestion is that the sports club meeting should decide who is champion for each item and push it forward quickly.
At this meeting on the 11th April we can have 3 representatives from the cricket section and I would like volunteers to attend contact me NOW.
